Models

/model lists configured models, or selects one for the next idle turn. The conversation stays. The <env> model line, status bar, context window, and chat client change. The command is refused while a turn is running.

/model <model>	Uses the current provider. A name unique in the catalog also works. A provider with one model can be selected by provider name alone.
/model <provider> <model>	Switches providers. The model id is everything after the first space, so it may contain /.

Tab completes current-provider models, then a provider name, then that provider’s models. Only models under providers can be selected. A missing API key leaves the current model unchanged. Fetching a model list from a provider is not available in this build. The new provider and model are written to config.json.

Switching models does not fail because of thinking. Unsupported thinking is omitted. An unsupported stored gear uses the provider default and does not change the stored choice.

Reasoning history keeps working. An adapter replays provider reasoning state only in the format it owns. A block it cannot replay keeps its readable text, as assistant text or in the model’s thinking field, and drops the state. A block with no readable text is dropped.
